Handmade homewares, made in Worthing
Quietly beautiful, useful things for everyday life — made from wood, cloth and natural materials, in small batches and with care.
Chintz & Wood is a small homewares shop built around objects that are meant to be used and kept. Not mass-produced, not precious — just well made pieces with character, made locally and designed to last.

What we make
Most of what you see here is made by us.
Jubal is a carpenter and wood turner, working with local and reclaimed timber in East Worthing to make bowls, candlesticks and small furniture. Each piece is shaped by the grain, colour and history of the wood it came from.
Wendy works with vintage linens and natural dyes to create cushions and lampshades with depth and softness. Using plants, kitchen waste and garden-grown materials, existing cloth is given a new life and a new story.
Alongside our own work, we stock a small number of independent makers whose values match ours — thoughtful design, honest materials and things made to last.

Why it’s different
We don’t follow trends or work to a seasonal cycle.
We make in small runs, use what already exists, and let the materials lead.
That means:
- wood from local and reclaimed sources
- textiles made from vintage and surplus fabric
- natural dyes instead of synthetic ones
- pieces that are all slightly different
It also means everything here has a sense of where it came from.
For Your Home
Our pieces are made for real life — bowls for keys and coins, cushions for sofas and naps, lamps for warm evening light, candlesticks for everyday tables. They’re designed to fit into a home easily and to grow more familiar over time.
We believe in buying fewer things, choosing them well, and letting them become part of your life.
Visit Us
You can find us in East Worthing, where our shop and workshop sit side by side.
Come and see the materials, the tools, and the finished pieces in the same place.
