Meet Wendy and Jubal
Chintz & Wood is the shared studio practice of textile maker Wendy March and woodworker Jubal Prevatte.
Wendy works with vintage and surplus cloth, using natural dyes, hand stitching and traditional lampshade-making techniques. Jubal works with local and reclaimed timber, allowing the grain, shape and history of each piece of wood to guide what it becomes.
Together, we make textiles, lighting, wooden objects and furniture for homes that value craft, materials and individuality.
Alongside our own work, we stock a small number of independent makers whose values match ours — thoughtful design, honest materials and things made to last.
Materials with a Past
We often begin with something that already exists: a length of vintage linen, a discarded silk garment or timber from a fallen or carefully felled tree.
Natural dyes give old cloth new colour and depth, while local and reclaimed wood carries its previous life into the finished piece. Because the materials vary, no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
