Chintz & Wood in the Press: Celebrating Small Biz 100 Recognition
It’s been a busy and very lovely few weeks here, with Chintz & Wood popping up in the press thanks to this year’s Small Business Saturday Small Biz 100 campaign. It still feels a bit surreal seeing our little shop mentioned alongside other brilliant small businesses across the UK.
Featured in National News
Chintz & Wood was included in a Yahoo News UK round-up highlighting three West Sussex businesses chosen for the Small Biz 100. It’s a short piece but a nice boost — especially heading into the busiest time of year.

Spotlight at the House of Lords
We were also featured in Sussex World / Sussex Express after being invited to the House of Lords for a reception celebrating this year’s Small Biz 100. The articles touched on our handmade approach, the story behind the shop, and the moment we handed one of Jubal’s wooden Christmas trees to the Chancellor. A slightly unexpected Wednesday afternoon, but a good one.
Local Support & Social Shout-Outs
There have been some really kind mentions on social media too, from local councillors and community supporters — all calling out Chintz & Wood as one of Britain’s top 100 small businesses this year. It means a lot, especially as we try to build something thoughtful and handmade on our little stretch of the coast.
And closer to home…
Yesterday (11th December), we were part of organising the East Worthing late-night shopping evening. A proper community effort — small shops staying open, lights on, people wandering in for a chat and a browse. It felt like exactly the kind of night that reminds you why independent shops matter.
A final thought
All this attention is lovely, of course — but what it really highlights is how much people value independent makers, local stories, and things made with care. That’s the heart of Chintz & Wood, and it’s nice to see it recognized.
