Chintz and Wood - Our Story

We’re Wendy and Jubal, and we make most of the furnishings we stock here in Worthing. We craft and create alongside our two cats and our dog, Boodle. We moved from Portland, Oregon, USA, bringing our love for handmade items with us. Here, we’ve found a new community and a place to share our passion.

Wendy is a designer who brings natural dyes to life in cushions and lampshades. She blends her love for textiles with sustainable practices, using plants from her garden to create vibrant, unique pieces. With a background in user research and design, Wendy brings a thoughtful touch to every item she makes.

Jubal, an American from Maryland, spent 20 years in Portland, Oregon, where he was deeply involved in the local maker community. His journey as a woodworker took a meaningful turn in 2021 after an ice storm left trees fallen all over Portland. Inspired by this, he began turning these trees into beautiful bowls, igniting a new passion. Now, he creates everything from bowls to furniture in our workshop in East Worthing.
